ELS is close to SMD, but its crystals are fixed directly on the PCB, which gives it a number of advantages:
- Lower crystal working temperature (5-10°C). Unlike SMD modules, ELS modules don’t have an extra heating channel between the crystals and the PCB via a diode case, which provides a lower light flux decline.
- 40 % longer service life, compared with SMD lights.
- Higher crystal density due to the absence of a separate case for each crystal. Thus a matt light diffuser gives an even shining surface, not separate blinding dots.
- Improved chip-to-aluminum heat transfer from makes it possible to use ELS lights in a hotter environment (up to 60°С).
